Some people note that the flavor of the duck egg is more rich than that of a chicken egg. Noticeably the shell of the duck egg often features a much more smooth surface than a chicken egg, with a slight transparency. Duck eggs are often larger in size than the standard large chicken egg. Widely believed to have a higher fat/ cholesterol content than chicken eggs, duck eggs are often preferred for baking purposes and for creamy uses.
Many duck breeds lay eggs which are a white, however they may also be cream, blue, gray, or even black. For those with CERTAIN chicken egg allergies, duck eggs may be an alternative however one must always consult their allergist/ physician before consuming eggs from other bird species. |
