Chickens

Buff Orpington

The buff orpington was one of our original two species of chickens, and still a favorite. Known for being dual purpose for egg laying and meat, these birds are curious and friendly. They lay large brown eggs.

Black Copper Marans

The marans chicken was originally developed in France in the late 1800's. They are most popular for laying rich deep brown large eggs. Another calm breed, they sometimes may have feathered legs.

German Bielefelder

This breed was developed in 1970 in Germany and is known as a calm dual-purpose breed. High fertility tested for 2024.  Chicks are auto sexing, meaning at hatch the coloration of the chick matches the sex of the chick.  Female chicks are dark with a “chipmunk” like stripes, while male chicks are lighter with a pale yellowish dot on the head.  Eggs are in the light to medium brown range, unwashed and collected fresh.
